Our Youth's Education is at Risk!

There was a woman (race not important for this) on television the other day.  She was being interviewed by a female reporter.  Forgive me, I can't recall the station nor the show because the content grabbed my attention instantly!  The middle-aged woman was crying to the reporter.  The woman told the reporter she did not want to tell her students to go to college.  Yes, the middle aged woman was a teacher!  She continued by saying she couldn't bare to see the faces of her students when they found out she lied about their futures.  The teacher stated if she told them going to college would lead to a successful career and a great life, she would be lying.  When in reality, she further spoke, a person graduates from college with tremendous debt, working a underpaying job, and struggling to balance family time vs. work to pay bills time.

I had to sit back and reflect on what I just witnessed.  This teacher was very serious and the reporter was speechless.  So was I!  If we have teachers who believe this, where is their motivation to teach our children?  Why would they want to?  We should pay attention to WHY this teacher feels this way and is she alone with this perspective?  Teachers educate the children of our world to become leaders!  They shouldn't be bogged down with debt, extreme worries and lack of time with their own children.

A solution is not easy, fast or just one thing.  Collectively and individually several things need to occur.  The state governments need to step up, stop fighting one another and pay our teachers appropriate compensation for the work they do!  Let's also use the money appropriately by purchasing books and supplies for our children.  STOP STEALING!  Children shouldn't have to worry about getting an education in a building that doesn't have clean drinking water and an adequate amount of toilet paper.  Instead of asking low income parents who are struggling already, to supply these things.  Nor should children be deprived of an education because the school doesn't have enough books for each of their students.  This is how children are passing grades without being able to read...blame it on not having a book in 1st or 2nd grade!  Then, you have a frustrated 5th grade teacher who tells Johnny to read a paragraph in class, but he can't.  This can cause a domino effect of negative things to occur in Johnny's life.  Lastly, let's teach our children, from the start, how to be respectful of our elders, teachers, parents and themselves.  The help all of these things would give the teachers is tremendous.  Parents, let's start the work at home.  These are not complete solutions, but do your part.  Your effort is all that is required.

Social Media and Our Own Values

The television, computer, cell phone and advertising media has changed the belief system for some Americans.  There are schools across the world teaching computer technology (with social media examples) over religion, cultural differences and unity among all.  Additionally, people are more exposed to the harshness of reality and mimicking what they see.  How do people see more violence, hatred, body shaming, drug abuse/overdoses, money glorification and sexual immorality?  Mostly through the media!      The stories about Serena Williams and Les Moonves (CBS former CEO and Executive) have taken  over the social media scene this past weekend.  They have crossed all different topics such as race relations, sports, history, women's rights, violence, sexuality, embarrassment, LOVE, RESPECT, honesty, fear, acknowledgment, trust, lies, misconduct, power abuse, working class, sexual aggression, family, mother/daug...

Deteriorating City

Deteriorating City                         The silent manipulation unfolding among our creation Violence rising, adultery exposed, children shot as they sleep, teens die waiting for a ride to be educated, elderly beaten while just trying to enjoy independence. We watch as surrounding buildings crumble, monuments are distorted with graffiti; gangbangers rob the poor and needy. Shameful actions covered by joyful expressions of so-called power. Mimicking what has been seen, displayed, shown, mocked by small snippets of television faction or media competition for action. Information to some, ignored by none.                Lives taken for granted by no one age group                specifically.         ...
