Is It Really Customer Service????

When was the last time you had great customer service…mediocre…?  I’ll wait…Is it taking longer than you thought to give an answer?  Well, myself as well.  The words: please, thank you and have a nice day have seemed to disappear from daily customer service.  It’s not every customer service representative who lacks the simple words above in their vocabulary.  Only a handful of them are out there spreading their rudeness, impatience, arrogance and lack of integrity.  Sadly enough, those handfuls of customer service representatives work at some of the places we frequent the most.  For example, fast food restaurants, banks, retail shops and furniture stores are places for some rude representatives.  They act as if we are interrupting them (as they gossip on their cell phones); they are too busy to help you; on their way to a break; or my favorite: they act like they don’t even see you! Ha!

The thing is: You are at work, so do your job right or go home!  I’ve had supervisors sat that many times to their employees.  Employers pay workers for their service/work.  If your work includes a positive attitude towards a paying customer, DO YOUR JOB or GO HOME!  The customer has no idea your best friend called to inform you she saw your always cheating boyfriend at the club last night getting cozy with Tasha!  The customer is only asking for a coffee and a biscuit to start their day off, but you have been rude to her.  Now, there is a ripple effect of rudeness.  Please know how to separate work from personal and do your job appropriately.  The rudeness displayed by some customer service representatives may have some to do with your financial status, but not the way you think.  Rich and poor people can be treated completely different by a representative if they think the tip will be affected.  When there is no tip involved, rich and poor people may experience a rude customer service worker equally.

In summary, treat others how you want to be treated.  *Rephrase: Treat customers how you want to be treated when you’re a customer.  Easy right?

Social Media and Our Own Values

The television, computer, cell phone and advertising media has changed the belief system for some Americans.  There are schools across the world teaching computer technology (with social media examples) over religion, cultural differences and unity among all.  Additionally, people are more exposed to the harshness of reality and mimicking what they see.  How do people see more violence, hatred, body shaming, drug abuse/overdoses, money glorification and sexual immorality?  Mostly through the media!      The stories about Serena Williams and Les Moonves (CBS former CEO and Executive) have taken  over the social media scene this past weekend.  They have crossed all different topics such as race relations, sports, history, women's rights, violence, sexuality, embarrassment, LOVE, RESPECT, honesty, fear, acknowledgment, trust, lies, misconduct, power abuse, working class, sexual aggression, family, mother/daug...

Are politics being run by fame, notoriety and wealth?

Are politics being run by fame, notoriety and wealth?                                                 The world today is different compared to just a year ago.   Everyone seems to be touchy and sensitive about everything.   Some people are marching just to be marching with their friends, not knowing the true cause. If a celebrity is doing it, he/she is more likely, going to have a following.   The fame, notoriety and wealth status has led to the election of our most recent president.   Realistically, hos moral character was not a factor relating to his election!   The more fame he gained from his political fight came from the misconception about his many business ventures.   Highlighting the word misconception because majority of pe...

Our Youth's Education is at Risk!

There was a woman (race not important for this) on television the other day.  She was being interviewed by a female reporter.  Forgive me, I can't recall the station nor the show because the content grabbed my attention instantly!  The middle-aged woman was crying to the reporter.  The woman told the reporter she did not want to tell her students to go to college.  Yes, the middle aged woman was a teacher!  She continued by saying she couldn't bare to see the faces of her students when they found out she lied about their futures.  The teacher stated if she told them going to college would lead to a successful career and a great life, she would be lying.  When in reality, she further spoke, a person graduates from college with tremendous debt, working a underpaying job, and struggling to balance family time vs. work to pay bills time.         I had to sit back and...
